Why did Edgar Allan Poe write sad stories and poems?

Question

Why did Edgar Allan Poe write sad stories and poems?
Just wondering.

Answer

Its most likely because of his life. Unconsciously, sometimes writerspoets may express whats happening in their lives onto paper. His mother died when he was young of TB Tuberculosis and his wife who wasnt even yet also died of the same disease, TB. He was then left to live with his stepfather, who neglected him and kicked him out of his house with only enough money to basically live out there for about one day, which is how he became homeless. He joined the US Military, but that didnt work out so well so he requested to be discharged. From there he felt that poetry was the one way he could express his feelings about his horrible life. He was a big gambler, he was always drunk, which was basically the cause of his death. He lived a depressing life and decided to share it with us through his literature.
